## How AI may be used

AI may list dates and document references from the client's papers. The lawyer decides which incidents matter and how they fit section 16.

**AI may:**

- Enter dates, places and document references from police entries, messages and the client's notes
- Leave a blank column for which s 16 limb the lawyer assigns
- Flag a gap between two dated incidents

**AI must not:**

- Must not describe an incident in words that will be copied into a statement or affidavit
- Must not say the fear is proved or that an order should be made
- Must not decide that a domestic relationship exists

**The lawyer checks:**

- Each incident the lawyer relies on is sourced, and the client's account has been taken by the lawyer
- The chronology is capable of being used against s 16(1): a domestic relationship, reasonable grounds to fear, actual fear unless subsection (2) applies, and a domestic violence offence, a conversion-practices offence, or intimidation or stalking sufficient to warrant an order
- Where actual fear is not relied on, the lawyer has identified which paragraph of subsection (2) is relied on
- An order sought only under subsection (2)(d) is limited to the prohibitions taken to be specified by s 36, which is opened before the conditions are drafted
