Annual compliance calendar for a NSW exploration licence or mining lease: annual rental fee and administrative levy, royalty returns and payments, security deposit reviews, condition-based reporting and work program commitments, renewal and transfer deadlines.

## Key facts

- Kind: Checklist. Steps or checks to work through and tick off.
- Practice area: [Energy, Resources & Mining](https://ailawframework.com/precedents/energy-resources-and-mining.md)
- Jurisdictions: New South Wales
- AI level: Green. AI can do most of the drafting. A lawyer still reviews the result.
- Law stated as at: 2026-10-18
- Status: Maintained. Checked on 2026-10-18 against the 4 authorities it cites, for New South Wales.

## When to use it

Use when a client takes on a NSW authority, after any variation of conditions, and at the start of each year, so every fee, return, report and deadline has an owner and a date. Populate it from the authority, the conditions and the notices actually received.

## How AI may be used

AI may populate the calendar from the authority, its conditions and the fee and levy notices inside an approved template; the responsible person checks each entry against the source when the calendar is set up and after any change.

**AI may:**

- Extract every dated obligation from the authority's conditions, work program and notices
- Populate the calendar with the obligation, source, due date, owner and reminder dates
- Flag conditions with no date or an ambiguous trigger for the lawyer to resolve

**AI must not:**

- Must not infer a due date that the authority, the regulations or a notice does not state
- Must not drop a condition because it has no date; list it as a standing obligation
- Must not treat the calendar as a substitute for reading new notices and conditions

**The lawyer checks:**

- Every condition of the authority appears in the calendar, with its source
- Dates come from the authority, the regulations or a notice on file
- The calendar is updated after any variation, renewal, transfer or new notice
