## How AI may be used

AI may build the schedule from invoices the lawyer marks and draft the letter around the lawyer's theory. The lawyer fixes the amount and whether the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act applies.

**AI may:**

- List invoices and add only the figures the lawyer has marked
- Quote the payment clause the lawyer identifies
- Stop and flag the draft if the file describes a personal, family or household purpose

**AI must not:**

- Must not decide that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act does not apply
- Must not add interest, fees, credit reporting or a lawsuit deadline the lawyer has not approved
- Must not send the letter

**The lawyer checks:**

- The purpose of the debt has been checked against 15 U.S.C. § 1692a(5)
- Every dollar in the schedule is on a document
- If the recipient has counsel, the letter goes to counsel
