## Key facts

- Kind: Notice. A formal notice to serve or publish.
- Practice area: [Debt Recovery & Civil Enforcement](https://ailawframework.com/precedents/debt-recovery-and-civil-enforcement.md)

## When to use it

Use when a commercial or consumer account is about to be sued, has been sued, or is in a written dispute. The notice goes to the client's collectors and the person who keeps the system of record. It does not go to the debtor.

## How AI may be used

AI may draft the notice from the account number and the systems the lawyer names. The lawyer decides the trigger and whether consumer-dispute rules apply.

**AI may:**

- Insert the account identifier and the systems the lawyer lists
- Add a line for call recordings and the assignment documents if those systems are on the list
- Flag the draft if it tells anyone to delete notes of a dispute

**AI must not:**

- Must not decide that a validation dispute has or has not been made
- Must not send the notice to the debtor or into the collection letters
- Must not instruct staff to keep collecting during a dispute the lawyer has not cleared

**The lawyer checks:**

- The system of record, recordings and the assignment file are in scope or expressly excluded
- If a written consumer dispute is in the file, collection of the disputed part has been checked against § 1692g(b)
- The notice is internal
