## When to use it

Use when a person entitled to apply for an assessment asks for an itemised bill of a lump sum bill. Do not use it to increase the amount of the lump sum bill unless rule 74 has been checked against the earlier disclosure.

## Used for these tasks

- [Build a draft bill from the time records and the disclosure](https://ailawframework.com/obligations/costs-billing-and-litigation-funding/build-a-draft-bill-from-the-time-records-and-the-disclosure.md)

## How AI may be used

AI may turn approved time records into draft rows. A principal checks every row against the records and signs or is named as the responsible principal.

**AI may:**

- Lay out date, description, time and amount from time records the principal has marked as billable
- Add the disbursements shown on the invoices supplied with those records

**AI must not:**

- Must not create a time entry or a disbursement that is not in the records
- Must not raise the total above the lump sum bill
- Must not describe AI output as time worked by a person

**The lawyer checks:**

- The request was made within 30 days after the costs became payable, and this bill goes out within 21 days of the request
- If the person is liable for only part of the costs, the bill itemises only that part
- A principal signs the bill or the letter, or is nominated in it as the responsible principal, and the total is not higher than the lump sum bill unless rule 74 is met
