## When to use it

## How AI may be used

AI may draft the letter from the request numbers and the response the lawyer has marked. The lawyer decides the deficiency, the cure and whether a motion is justified.

**AI may:**

- List each request number the lawyer has marked, with the response language beside it
- Draft a proposed cure and a reply date from the lawyer's instructions
- Point out a request the lawyer marked that the draft letter does not mention

**AI must not:**

- Must not decide that a response is deficient or that a motion will succeed
- Must not add authorities the lawyer has not opened
- Must not send the letter or file a motion

**The lawyer checks:**

- Each cited request and response matches the served papers
- The cure is something the other side can actually do, and the reply date is realistic
- The district's local conferral rule has been checked before this letter is treated as enough for the certificate
