## When to use it

Use while the sustainability report is being prepared, where the sustainability standards require a scenario analysis or information drawn from one. It is the working record. It is not the climate statements.

## Used for these tasks

## How AI may be used

AI may file the model outputs and source names into the record. It must not write the resilience narrative that will appear in the climate statements.

**AI may:**

- List model runs, dates, data sources and who ran them, from the working papers
- Check that two scenarios are named and flag a record that names only one
- Cross-refer the record to the paragraph of the draft climate statements that the lawyer identifies

**AI must not:**

- Must not draft sentences for the climate statements or the directors' declaration
- Must not state that the analysis meets AASB S2 or s 296D
- Must not choose the scenarios or change a temperature figure

**The lawyer checks:**

- Section 296D(2B) is read in full, and both scenarios required by that subsection are the ones used
- The temperature figures match Climate Change Act 2022 s 3(a) as it stands. ASIC's page, opened on 22 October 2026, states the current figures as 1.5°C and well exceeding 2°C
- AASB S2, which ASIC says was made under s 336A(1), is applied to the content of the analysis. This record does not replace that standard
- No sentence from a tool is copied into the sustainability report

## Authorities

- [Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) s 296D(2A) and (2B) (a required scenario analysis is taken not to satisfy s 296D(1) unless it uses both of the temperature scenarios tied to Climate Change Act 2022 s 3(a)(i) and (ii))](https://classic.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_act/ca2001172/s296d.html)
- [ASIC, What should your sustainability report contain? (AASB S2; the two scenarios ASIC states are currently 1.5°C and well exceeding 2°C above pre-industrial levels)](https://www.asic.gov.au/regulatory-resources/sustainability-reporting/for-preparers-of-sustainability-reports/what-should-your-sustainability-report-contain)
