## When to use it

Complete before any AI tool faces clients or the public, and again before each material change (new topics, new model, new data source, new channel). Keep the completed checklist on the AI tools register.

## How AI may be used

Lawyer-led. AI may help test the tool by listing transcript answers that look like tailored advice, missed escalations or data-handling gaps, but the supervising lawyer decides whether the tool is safe to launch.

**AI may:**

- From the script and a permitted sample of test transcripts, list answers that look like tailored advice, missed escalations and statements of law that need checking.
- Generate adversarial test prompts (for example urgent deadlines, distress, out-of-scope questions) for the test plan.
- Tabulate test results against the pass criteria the lawyer has set.

**AI must not:**

- Must not certify that the tool is accurate, compliant or ready to launch.
- Must not be given real client transcripts unless the tool and the purpose are approved for that data.
- Must not mark a statement of law correct without a lawyer checking the source.

**The lawyer checks:**

- Every statement of law in the tool's knowledge base has been checked against current primary sources.
- Every escalation trigger has been tested end to end, including out of hours.
- The supervising lawyer has signed off and the monitoring plan is resourced.
