Checklist for the six-monthly review of the firm's AI policy: new court and tribunal notes since the last review, privacy changes (APP 1.7 to 1.9 from 10 December 2026), vendor term changes, the incident register and training gaps.

## Key facts

- Kind: Checklist. Steps or checks to work through and tick off.
- Practice area: [AI decision systems](https://ailawframework.com/precedents/ai-decision-systems.md)
- Jurisdictions: Australia, Commonwealth, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland
- AI level: Yellow. You and the tool draft together, with you directing. You check every statement you rely on.
- Law stated as at: 2026-11-07
- Status: Maintained. Checked on 2026-11-07 against the 7 authorities it cites, for 6 jurisdictions.

## When to use it

Use every six months, and after any new court practice note or a serious incident. It works with the master AI policy (a45-law-firm-ai-use-policy), the incident register and the training record.

## How AI may be used

A tool may gather the incident, training and vendor data for the review. The policy owner decides what changes.

**AI may:**

- Summarise the incident register and training record since the last review
- List vendor term changes the firm has received

**AI must not:**

- Must not decide that a new practice note does not affect the firm
- Must not change the policy text

**The lawyer checks:**

- Each court and tribunal the firm appears in has been checked for new AI notes
- Whether APP 1.7 to 1.9 apply to any automated decision the firm makes
- Changes are approved and staff are told
