## Checking plan

**Lawyer-led judgement**

The lawyer writes the submission. Any tool output is limited to the notice date, the printed deadline and a topic list.

- What the AI does: From the notice and the documents the lawyer marks, list the notice date, the deadline printed on the notice, and the topics the client has asked to address. The tool does not write the submission.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer writes the submission from the victim's instructions, decides whether to ask that it be withheld from the offender, and settles any condition that is sought.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a scheme classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.
- Restriction: The lawyer makes the substantive assessment. Any permitted AI assistance remains supporting work with its own checks.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Take the deadline from the notice, not from a standard period, unless the scheme page fixes one.
2. Confirm the submission uses the victim's instructions and is not copied from the assistance application.
3. Record the victim's choice about whether the offender may see the submission, and the order required to withhold it.
4. Confirm nothing generated by the tool appears in the document that is sent.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
