## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

Schedule 2 categories are categories of the act of violence. The amounts opened are $15,000, $9,000, $6,000 and $3,000. The lawyer chooses the category.

- What the AI does: Quote the act-of-violence description and any injury description from the documents the lawyer marks, with the document and page, and set them beside schedule 2 only as the lawyer directs. Do not choose a category.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer chooses the category and any lifting circumstances, and checks the quotations against the documents.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Match the act, not the diagnosis, to schedule 2. Category A includes attempted murder, rape, and the incest and section 229B matters the schedule states. Category B includes a sexual offence, grievous bodily harm, and domestic violence, among the matters listed.
2. Category C includes unlawful wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm. Category D is an act that is not category A, B or C, including assault and unlawful stalking that is not in a higher category.
3. Apply schedule 2 section 1 where category A, B or C circumstances lift a lower act to a higher amount. Do not do that lift in the tool.
4. The government guide states a special assistance range of $3,000 to $15,000, which matches these four amounts. Read the reprint current from 2 October 2024 before using them.

## Notes

- An injury report can show that the person is a victim. It does not by itself choose the schedule 2 category.
- Related victims are not paid this special assistance. The guide gives them distress, dependency and funeral payments instead.

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: Victim Assist Queensland, schedule 2 special assistance

**Deliverable**: A comparison table of the act described in the documents against schedule 2, with the category left blank.

**Inputs**

- Police or other report describing the act
- Medical report
- Current schedule 2

**Example**: Illustrative example: The police report describes grievous bodily harm and the medical report describes the injuries. The table quotes both and leaves the category blank. The lawyer decides whether it is category B and whether any lifting circumstance applies.

**Stop and escalate when**

- The act of violence is not described in a document.
- A category is filled in by the tool.
