| Human involvement | Yellow: Lawyer and AI draft together |
| How AI is used | For each sample the producer identifies, list the source track, the composition owners found in the catalogue search the lawyer runs, the sound-recording owner the lawyer identifies, and whether a written permission and any royalty split are on the file. Do not treat a sample as cleared. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer decides whether both copyrights are covered for the intended release, whether a royalty-free term is limited to non-commercial use, and what must be agreed in writing before release. |

## Checking plan

**Source-by-source verification**

Keep the composition and the sound recording in separate rows, and do not treat length or a royalty-free download as clearance.

- What the AI does: For each sample the producer identifies, list the source track, the composition owners found in the catalogue search the lawyer runs, the sound-recording owner the lawyer identifies, and whether a written permission and any royalty split are on the file. Do not treat a sample as cleared.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides whether both copyrights are covered for the intended release, whether a royalty-free term is limited to non-commercial use, and what must be agreed in writing before release.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a copyright determination.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Record a written permission for the composition and a separate written permission for the sound recording.
2. Take composition owners from the catalogue search or the publisher, and recording owners from a source the lawyer accepts, such as ARIA, the liner notes or the label.
3. Read any royalty-free or beat-platform term before treating it as permission for a commercial release.
4. Record any royalty share the owner requires, in writing, before the new work is registered.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
- APRA AMCOS says permission is required however short the sample. The Copyright Act was not opened for this task. The lawyer checks the Act before advising that every sample infringes.
