## Checking plan

**Source-by-source verification**

Trace relied-on content to independent sources and check for relevant material the output has missed.

- What the AI does: From the grant date, the date the person returned to live in Australia, and the travel dates, list the rules on the portability page that apply to that travel. The tool does not decide that the pension continues.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides whether the pension can continue, including where a social security agreement may matter, and what the person must tell the agency.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Use only the rules on the page checked. It says the pension may be payable for the whole time outside Australia, including a departure to live elsewhere.
2. If the person left within two years of returning to live in Australia, check the three conditions the page lists: return to live, pension started after that return, and travel in the next two years. Payment may stop, or may continue for travel to a social security agreement country.
3. Do not name an agreement country or a notice period. Those pages were not opened. The portability page was updated on 4 December 2025.
4. Keep this separate from the general list of changes that must be reported.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
