| How AI is used | From the approval condition and the fee study the lawyer identifies, set out the fee amount, the public facility it is said to fund, and any dedication the papers say has already been provided. Leave blank whether each determination in section 66001 is met. Do not say the fee is valid. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer makes the determinations. California Government Code section 66001(a) says that in establishing, increasing, or imposing a fee as a condition of approval of a development project, the local agency shall identify the purpose of the fee; identify the use to which the fee is to be put, and if the use is financing public facilities, identify the facilities; determine how there is a reasonable relationship between the use of the fee and the type of development project; and determine how there is a reasonable relationship between the need for the public facility and the type of development project. Subsection (b) says the agency shall determine how there is a reasonable relationship between the amount of the fee and the cost of the public facility, or the portion of it, attributable to the development. This is California. Other states differ. The five-year findings for unexpended fee revenue in subsection (d) are not applied unless the question is that fund. |

## Checking plan

- What the AI does: From the approval condition and the fee study the lawyer identifies, set out the fee amount, the public facility it is said to fund, and any dedication the papers say has already been provided. Leave blank whether each determination in section 66001 is met. Do not say the fee is valid.
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 22 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Notes

- The department page describes the same four determinations and the amount relationship. It is not a substitute for the section.
- A processing fee is a different charge and is tested in a separate task.
