## Checking plan

**Page-by-page check**

The lawyer decides which pages may be inspected. The tool only indexes and flags.

- What the AI does: From the produced records, build a page index that marks the date, the author and any page naming a person other than the client. The tool does not decide what may be inspected or copied.
- What the lawyer does: Keep clinical records in a firm-controlled tool. Do not put them in a public AI tool. Rule 9.1 bars disclosure of confidential client information, with the exceptions in rule 9.2. Take reasonable steps under APP 11 to protect the records from loss or unauthorised access. Decide whether a loss likely to result in serious harm must be notified under the Privacy Act.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Open the produced set and check the flag against the page, not against the index alone.
2. Hold back pages that name another patient until the lawyer decides the claim of confidence.
3. Record what was copied and what was returned to the court.
4. Use a firm-controlled tool. A public tool is not used for these records.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
