## Key facts

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Practice area | [Personal Injury & Compensation (workers compensation, CTP/TAC, medical negligence)](https://ailawframework.com/practice/personal-injury-and-compensation.md) |
| Human involvement | Yellow: Lawyer and AI draft together |
| How AI is used | Compare the client's draft description of the incident, the injury and the time off work with the chronology and payroll. List sentences the records do not support, and sentences that omit a date the notice period uses. Do not rewrite the description, and do not write any verification. |
| What the lawyer must review | Decide what may go into the notice. The client draft is not the notice. If the form requires a statutory declaration, the tool writes nothing in it. Check PIPA s 9 or Motor Accident Insurance Act s 37 before lodgement. Use a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11 and any notifiable breach. |

## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

The lawyer accepts or rejects the client's wording. The tool only marks clashes with the file.

- What the AI does: Compare the client's draft description of the incident, the injury and the time off work with the chronology and payroll. List sentences the records do not support, and sentences that omit a date the notice period uses. Do not rewrite the description, and do not write any verification.
- What the lawyer does: Make the legal assessment, check the source material and authorise the output for its intended use.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Mark each sentence as supported, contradicted or unsupported.
2. Check the incident date, the first symptoms and the date a lawyer was consulted or a law practice instructed.
3. Do not add a mechanism, a body part or a wage figure that is not in the records.
4. Stop before any verification wording.

## Notes

- Health, wage and benefit records stay in a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11, and whether a disclosure is notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
- PIPA notices in effect from 1 September 2025 are the version 7 forms on the Queensland Government publications page. Earlier notice forms are no longer valid.
- A description that later appears in a submission must be verified by the named practitioner under Supreme Court Practice Direction 5 of 2025 or District Court Practice Direction 12 of 2025.

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: Queensland PIPA notice or motor accident notice, before lodgement

**Deliverable**: A marked-up comparison of the client's draft against the records.

**Inputs**

- Client's draft description
- Medical chronology
- Payroll if time off work is described
- The form the lawyer will use

**Example**: Illustrative example: The draft says symptoms began at once. The first attendance is six weeks later. The note lists that gap. It does not change the draft.

**Stop and escalate when**

- The draft is about to be copied into a verification.
- The form version is not the one in effect from 1 September 2025, where a PIPA notice is used.
