| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Practice area | [Personal Injury & Compensation (workers compensation, CTP/TAC, medical negligence)](https://ailawframework.com/practice/personal-injury-and-compensation.md) |
| Human involvement | Yellow: Lawyer and AI draft together |
| How AI is used | From the invoices the lawyer selects, list each funeral cost, the payer, the date and the document, and mark a cost a second time if another head or a scheme payment on the file already covers it. Do not say which head succeeds. |
| What the lawyer must review | You decide which statute or scheme pays each cost. The same invoice is not recovered twice. Use only a cap or a list of items that is on the page you opened, and confirm it is still current. A scheme payment is not assumed to reduce the common-law claim. You apply the section that deals with it. ASCR r 9 and APP 11 apply. A breach may be notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). |

## Checking plan

**One funeral cost, one head**

The tool lists the invoices and flags a cost that appears under two heads. The lawyer chooses the head.

- What the AI does: From the invoices the lawyer selects, list each funeral cost, the payer, the date and the document, and mark a cost a second time if another head or a scheme payment on the file already covers it. Do not say which head succeeds.
- What the lawyer does: You decide which statute or scheme pays each cost.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Check each amount against the invoice, not against a summary.
2. If the estate section and the dependency section can both include funeral costs, flag the overlap and do not add the invoice twice.
3. Copy a dollar cap only from the scheme page opened for this file, and date the copy.
4. Do not treat a scheme payment as a deduction unless the section you rely on says it is taken into account.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
