## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

The reconciliation uses figures the lawyer has accepted. It does not work out costs, and it does not pay anyone.

- What the AI does: Set out the gross sum, each amount section 151A or section 3.40 brings to account, the costs figure the lawyer supplies, and who is to receive or hold the balance. Do not calculate costs. Do not treat a payment to the solicitor as permitted.
- What the lawyer does: Check every figure and decide who may be paid.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Each workers compensation amount is tied to the section 151A subsection that applies, and each statutory-benefits amount to the section 3.40 subsection that applies. An amount with no subsection is left off.
2. The costs line is the figure the lawyer types. The tool does not calculate it. The bench book says a compromise for a person under legal incapacity should not, in general, be inclusive of costs. If the lawyer has marked the sum that way, the reconciliation shows the mark and does not split the sum.
3. Where section 77 applies, the balance is to be paid into court unless the court directs otherwise. The reconciliation does not name the solicitor or the tutor as the person who receives it.
4. Medicare, Centrelink and NDIS figures are taken only from clearances the lawyer supplies. This task does not create those clearances.

## Notes

- Health and wage records stay in a firm-controlled tool. The lawyer applies ASCR r 9 and APP 11, and decides whether any breach is notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: New South Wales

**Deliverable**: A reconciliation of the gross sum, the opened deductions, the lawyer's costs figure, and the holder.

**Inputs**

- The gross sum
- Each repayment the lawyer has accepted, with its subsection
- The costs figure the lawyer supplies

**Example**: Illustrative example: The gross sum is agreed and weekly payments of $4,200 have been paid by the employer. The sheet deducts $4,200 under section 151A(1)(b). Costs stay at the figure the lawyer typed.

**Stop and escalate when**

- A repayment has no subsection.
- The sheet would calculate the costs.
