## Key facts

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Practice area | [Personal Injury & Compensation (workers compensation, CTP/TAC, medical negligence)](https://ailawframework.com/practice/personal-injury-and-compensation.md) |
| Human involvement | Yellow: Lawyer and AI draft together |
| How AI is used | From the reports the lawyer selects, using a firm-controlled tool, index the documents and list the questions in the lawyer's words. Do not write the referral that is lodged. The worker does not refer the matter. |
| What the lawyer must review | You settle the questions. Only the insurer can refer the worker to the tribunal. You write anything that is lodged. The tool writes the index and the question list. A psychiatric permanent-impairment assessment is only by the tribunal. Use a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11 and any notifiable breach. |
| Written for | Queensland |

## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

The insurer refers. The tool indexes documents and the lawyer's questions, and writes nothing that is lodged.

- What the AI does: From the reports the lawyer selects, using a firm-controlled tool, index the documents and list the questions in the lawyer's words. Do not write the referral that is lodged. The worker does not refer the matter.
- What the lawyer does: Make the legal assessment, check the source material and authorise the output for its intended use.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Use only questions the lawyer has written.
2. State that the referral is the insurer's, not the worker's.
3. Do not prepare a worker's application. The page does not set one out.

## Notes

- Health, wage and scheme records stay in a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11, and whether a disclosure is notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
- The tribunal page says only a workers' compensation insurer can refer a worker to the Medical Assessment Tribunal. It does not set out a form for the worker to lodge. The WorkCover permanent-impairment page says a psychiatric injury must be assessed by the tribunal. The tool writes the index and the question list only.

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: Medical assessment tribunals in Queensland workers' compensation

**Deliverable**: A document index and the lawyer's questions. No lodged referral.

**Inputs**

- The reports the lawyer selects
- The questions the lawyer has written
- Whether the injury is psychiatric

**Example**: Illustrative example: The lawyer writes two questions about a shoulder. The index lists the imaging the lawyer selected and those two questions. It is not addressed as a referral by the worker.

**Stop and escalate when**

- The lawyer has not written the questions.
- The output would be the document that is lodged.
