| How AI is used | From the registration search, the accident place and the police report the lawyer selects, list each vehicle, where it is registered, and any insurer or nominal body the search names. Do not choose the recipient. |
| What the lawyer must review | You decide which insurer, or the Nominal Defendant, must receive the notice. A search result is a lead. Confirm it before the notice is sent. Where two or more vehicles are involved, you check the seven-day copy obligation. Use a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11 and any notifiable breach. |

## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

The lawyer chooses the recipient. The tool lists what the search and the report show.

- What the AI does: From the registration search, the accident place and the police report the lawyer selects, list each vehicle, where it is registered, and any insurer or nominal body the search names. Do not choose the recipient.
- What the lawyer does: Make the legal assessment, check the source material and authorise the output for its intended use.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. List each vehicle and its registration from the search.
2. Mark an unidentified or unregistered vehicle for the Nominal Defendant question.
3. Do not send the notice.

## Notes

- Health, wage and scheme records stay in a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11, and whether a disclosure is notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
- The Commission's claim page says the claim is made against the compulsory third-party insurer of the vehicle that may have caused the injury. An unidentified vehicle, or a vehicle that was not registered or insured, is claimed against the Nominal Defendant after a genuine attempt to identify it. An accident in Queensland involving a vehicle registered outside Queensland uses the Queensland notice as a PDF, not the portal, sent to that insurer.
- Section 37(4): if two or more motor vehicles were involved, the insurer that receives the notice must, within 7 days, give a copy to any other insurer of a motor vehicle involved.

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: Who receives a Queensland motor-accident notice

**Deliverable**: A vehicle list for the lawyer. The notice is not sent.

**Inputs**

- The registration search
- The police report
- The accident place

**Example**: Illustrative example: The search names one Queensland insurer and the police report says the other vehicle left the scene. The list records both. It does not choose between the insurer and the Nominal Defendant.

**Stop and escalate when**

- No search and no police report are on the file.
- The output would address the notice to a recipient.
