## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

The table copies printed dates. Victorian claim and protocol periods stay blank unless the notice states them.

- What the AI does: Copy the date of the notice, the decision in the notice's own words, and any review or response date the notice itself states. Leave blank any Victorian period the notice does not print.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer makes the legal assessment, checks the source material and authorises the output for its intended use.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Copy the decision in the notice's words, without a gloss.
2. Do not write in the 21-day claim decision, the 12-month review period, or the 14-day serious-injury acknowledgement unless the notice prints that date.
3. On a serious-injury application made on or after 30 March 2026, do not start the chapter 6 periods until the notice shows that the required information was received.
4. Do not treat a copied date as advice that time is still running.

## Notes

- The claim policy says the Commission decides, or asks for more information, within 21 days. Tribunal review of a failure to decide is available only where no further information was requested. A denial can also be reviewed. An informal review is requested within 12 months of becoming aware of the decision and does not stop the separate 12-month period. Those periods are context for the lawyer. They are not written into the table unless the notice states them.

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: Victoria. Transport Accident Commission notices.

**Deliverable**: A table of the dates and deadlines printed on the notices, with a blank where the notice states none.

**Inputs**

- The notice
- Any receipt date the notice itself prints

**Example**: Illustrative example: A denial notice prints the decision date and no review date. The 21-day and 12-month periods stay blank. The lawyer does not calculate them into the table.

**Stop and escalate when**

- The printed date cannot be read.
- The table is about to be sent to the client or the Commission.

Checked 2026-10-23.
