## Checking plan

**Mediation attendance**

The lawyer confirms authority and the papers. The tool lists the attendance and exchange requirements.

- What the AI does: From the orders and the practice note the lawyer identifies, list who must attend and which documents the note says are exchanged before the mediation. The tool does not write a position paper.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer confirms who has authority to settle, and that they will attend or be available. Read the order. The practice note states the usual position, and the order may differ. The lawyer settles any paper the mediator or the other parties receive. Do not put the client's clinical records into a public AI tool.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Name the person with authority, and whether an insurer may attend by telephone.
2. Check that expert reports the note requires have been served before the mediation date.
3. Check whether the order is a mediation or a settlement conference, and who must attend.
4. Where there is more than one defendant, check whether a pre-mediation conference is required.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
