## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

The lawyer writes the order. The tool builds the Brisbane caseflow agenda.

- What the AI does: From the defence date and the current orders, list the 180-day date, the intervention-notice response, and the paragraph 18 items. The tool does not write the consent order.
- What the lawyer does: Settle the consent order. The tool lists the Practice Direction 9 items and dates.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Most proceedings are expected to be ready for trial or resolved within 180 days of the filing of the defence, or of the latest defence if there is more than one defendant.
2. If no request for trial date is filed, the registry issues an intervention notice. The plaintiff responds within 28 days.
3. The response is a notice of discontinuance under rule 309, a rule 308A settlement notice, a rule 467 request, a consent order, or the plaintiff's proposed orders with the points of disagreement.
4. A consent order should, as appropriate, address pleadings, disclosure, mediation, expert evidence under chapter 11 part 5, and a request for trial date. If an item is omitted, explain why.

## Notes

- Supreme Court Practice Direction 5 of 2025 and District Court Practice Direction 12 of 2025 require a named practitioner to verify references in submissions. They are not a ban on generative AI in evidence.
- No District Court caseflow practice direction was opened. Use rule 467 for the request for trial date in that court. Practice Direction 18 of 2018 is named in paragraph 18. Its text was not opened.

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: Supreme Court of Queensland proceedings commenced by claim in Brisbane, under amended Practice Direction 9 of 2023

**Deliverable**: A caseflow agenda. The lawyer writes the consent order.

**Inputs**

- The date of the defence
- Whether the proceeding is on another managed list
- The steps still outstanding

**Example**: Illustrative example: The defence was filed 170 days ago and there is no request for trial date. The agenda marks the intervention notice. The lawyer chooses which of the five responses to send.

**Stop and escalate when**

- The proceeding is on another managed list.
- The tool is asked to file the consent order.
