## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

The tool builds a page-cited treatment chronology. The lawyer checks every row before it is used or lodged.

- What the AI does: From records held in a firm-controlled tool, build a dated treatment chronology with the provider, the complaint, the finding and the page of each row, and list the gaps. Do not diagnose, and do not fill a gap.
- What the lawyer does: Check each page cite and decide which rows may be lodged.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Procedural Direction PIC3 requires lodged documents to be indexed, consecutively paginated and legible, without duplicates. Material already lodged is referred to in the index and is not lodged again.
2. PIC3 says the index counts towards the rule 67B 500-page limit even where the index itself is not numbered. Documents in each category are in chronological order.
3. PIC3 paragraph 9 requires compliance with PIC13 for a chronology. PIC13 paragraph 11(a) allows a chronology. Paragraph 12 says generative AI must not generate the content of a person's evidence.
4. Practice Note SC Gen 23 paragraph 9B(a) allows a chronology. Paragraph 10 prohibits generating the content of an affidavit or the witness's evidence. The Local Court practice note commencing 12 January 2026 adopts that practice note.

## Notes

- This chronology is the page-cited treatment list prepared for use or lodgement. It is separate from a general case chronology.
- The Law Society list, current as at 14 May 2026, records a District Court generative AI practice note. Open that note before a District Court bundle is prepared. Its text was not opened.
- Health and wage records stay in a firm-controlled tool. Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules rule 9 and Australian Privacy Principle 11 apply, and a breach may be notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: New South Wales Personal Injury Commission, or a New South Wales court

**Deliverable**: A page-cited treatment chronology, with gaps listed, for the lawyer to check.

**Inputs**

- Medical records held in the firm's system, with page numbers
- The forum, if a bundle is being lodged
- Any direction about documents already lodged

**Example**: Illustrative example: Three attendances are listed. Two match the cited pages. The third page is a referral letter and does not record that attendance. The lawyer deletes the row and leaves the gap.

**Stop and escalate when**

- A row has no page cite, or the cited page does not contain the entry.
- The bundle re-lodges material already filed, or the index is left out of the page count.
