| How AI is used | Index the documents the NDIA lodges with the Tribunal and the participant's own evidence set, match them item by item, and list reports, letters and requests that appear in one set but not the other, with dates and page counts. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer confirms the matching, decides which missing items to put before the Tribunal, and checks whether anything the participant gave the NDIA was not before the decision-maker. |

## Checking plan

**Lawyer review required**

The responsible lawyer reviews the work against the instructions, sources and intended use.

- What the AI does: Index the documents the NDIA lodges with the Tribunal and the participant's own evidence set, match them item by item, and list reports, letters and requests that appear in one set but not the other, with dates and page counts.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer confirms the matching, decides which missing items to put before the Tribunal, and checks whether anything the participant gave the NDIA was not before the decision-maker.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Check the page count and date of each indexed document against the document itself.
2. Confirm every report the participant sent to the NDIA is either in the NDIA's lodgement or listed as missing.
3. Check the index states whether AI was used to prepare it, so disclosure can be made if the Tribunal requires it.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
