## Checking plan

**Lawyer-led judgement**

The lawyer makes the substantive assessment. Any permitted AI assistance remains supporting work with its own checks.

- What the AI does: The tool writes nothing into the statement or statutory declaration. It may produce a strictly tabular, source-tagged list of the documents the participant has referred to, and check the finished statement against the Tribunal's formal requirements.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer takes the participant's or carer's account in their own words, records it, and confirms it reflects their own recollection and experience before it is signed.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.
- Restriction: The lawyer makes the substantive assessment. Any permitted AI assistance remains supporting work with its own checks.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Confirm no AI-generated sentence, outline or suggested heading appears in the statement.
2. Where an interpreter or translation is used, confirm the Common Procedures requirements are met and that any AI translation is disclosed as paragraph 3.12 of the Practice Direction requires.
3. Read the statement back to the person, or have it read back, and record that they confirmed it.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
