| How AI is used | From the position description, the provider's registration status and the worker's engagement, set out whether the provider is registered, whether the role is described as risk-assessed or key personnel, and whether the provider or a self-managed participant has decided that all workers will be screened. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer decides whether this role requires a check under the Practice Standards rules, and what happens if the person works before a clearance. |

## Checking plan

**Whether the role needs a check**

The lawyer applies the Worker Screening Rules to this role. The tool sets out the facts.

- What the AI does: From the position description, the provider's registration status and the worker's engagement, set out whether the provider is registered, whether the role is described as risk-assessed or key personnel, and whether the provider or a self-managed participant has decided that all workers will be screened.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides whether this role requires a check under the Practice Standards rules, and what happens if the person works before a clearance.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Do not treat every worker of a registered provider as automatically required to be screened. The page limits the requirement to risk-assessed and key-personnel roles, unless the provider has chosen a wider rule.
2. Read the risk-assessed role definition in the Rules or the Commission's registered-provider page before naming the role.
3. A self-managed participant's choice to require checks is a fact to be read from their instructions, not assumed.
4. The Rules instrument linked from the Commission page should be opened in its current compilation before the advice is given. This task relies on the Commission's explanation of them.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
