## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

The register records the Queensland clearance type and the dates. The lawyer confirms the type.

- What the AI does: From the clearance records, copy the screening number, whether the card is an NDIS worker screening clearance or a Queensland disability worker screening clearance, the issue and expiry dates, and the employer link. Do not decide that a worker may start.
- What the lawyer does: Make the legal assessment, check the source material and authorise the output for its intended use.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Copy the number, type and dates from the card record.
2. Record an interstate NDIS clearance without a second Queensland NDIS application.
3. Note a renewal only if the record shows an application inside the 90 days before expiry.

## Notes

- Health, wage and scheme records stay in a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11, and whether a disclosure is notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
- The Queensland Disability Worker Screening home page says a valid NDIS worker screening clearance issued in another state or territory does not have to be reapplied for in Queensland. NDIS clearance holders may renew up to 90 days before the card expires, and the application must be in before expiry if the person is to keep working while it is processed.
- The Queensland before-you-start page says a person working or volunteering with a registered NDIS provider or a state-funded disability provider may need a clearance. If a clearance is required, it is needed before the person starts. That is the page's 'no card, no start' rule. The Commission says some states or territories allow work while an application is pending. The Queensland page does not.

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: Queensland disability worker screening

**Deliverable**: A register of clearance type, number and dates.

**Inputs**

- The clearance record
- The worker list
- The provider type

**Example**: Illustrative example: The card is an NDIS worker screening clearance issued in another place, expiring on 1 March 2027. The register records that card. It does not say the worker may start a shift tomorrow.

**Stop and escalate when**

- The card type is not on the record.
- The question is whether this role needs a clearance.
