## Checking plan

**Domestic medical and eyesight assessment**

Match the assessment to the certificate type, and record any daylight restriction.

- What the AI does: From the medical assessment and the certificate being sought, mark whether a certificate of medical fitness is required, whether colour vision restricts the holder to daylight, and whether a change in health, including pregnancy, has been reassessed.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides whether the assessment matches the certificate type and whether a daylight restriction applies.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. For a new certificate, require a certificate of medical fitness on form 1850, or an existing form 303.
2. For a renewal or endorsement of a lower certificate, require a certificate of medical fitness only where the page's table requires it, or where a medical answer is yes.
3. If colour vision is impaired, record the daylight limit for a master or coxswain, and for a general purpose hand on lookout unless directly supervised.
4. The lawyer decides whether the assessment is enough. The Standards document was not opened.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
