| How AI is used | From the certificates and the crewing determinations, fill a register with the holder, the vessels named, the expiry date, whether a five-year renewal is due, and whether any vessel is at or above 80 metres, 3,000 GT or 3,000 kW. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer fixes the register fields against AMSA's published certificate rules. Entries are then taken from the certificates. The lawyer checks a sale, a suspension or a vessel that crosses a crewing threshold. |

## Checking plan

**Certificate of operation register**

Enter the certificate particulars. Do not decide that an operation is lawful.

- What the AI does: From the certificates and the crewing determinations, fill a register with the holder, the vessels named, the expiry date, whether a five-year renewal is due, and whether any vessel is at or above 80 metres, 3,000 GT or 3,000 kW.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer fixes the register fields against AMSA's published certificate rules. Entries are then taken from the certificates. The lawyer checks a sale, a suspension or a vessel that crosses a crewing threshold.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Take the expiry from the certificate and record a renewal every five years unless the certificate says otherwise.
2. On a sale, record that the certificate does not pass with the vessel. Do not copy the old holder's certificate across.
3. Flag a vessel at or above any one of 80 metres, 3,000 GT or 3,000 kW for a crewing determination.
4. An exemption is recorded only where the exemption instrument AMSA lists has been opened and applies.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
