## Key facts

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Practice area | [Knowledge Management](https://ailawframework.com/practice/knowledge-management.md) |
| Human involvement | Green: AI drafts, lawyer checks |
| How AI is used | From the precedent and from the legislation page the lawyer has opened, copy into the register the Act title, the section or rule number, and the compilation or page address the lawyer supplied. Leave the currency conclusion blank. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer checks that the register points at the compilation they opened, and decides when the precedent must be reread. The register does not itself clear the precedent for use. Currency is the separate comparison of the quoted text with the in-force section. |

## Checking plan

**Lawyer review required**

The responsible lawyer reviews the work against the instructions, sources and intended use.

- What the AI does: From the precedent and from the legislation page the lawyer has opened, copy into the register the Act title, the section or rule number, and the compilation or page address the lawyer supplied. Leave the currency conclusion blank.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer checks that the register points at the compilation they opened, and decides when the precedent must be reread. The register does not itself clear the precedent for use. Currency is the separate comparison of the quoted text with the in-force section.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Copy the Act title and section number from the page the lawyer opened, not from the precedent's header alone.
2. Store the page address. A section number without the compilation is not enough.
3. Leave the 'still current' field blank. That decision is the comparison task, done by the lawyer.
4. Do not change the precedent text while building the register.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
