## Key facts

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Practice area | [In-House / General Counsel](https://ailawframework.com/practice/in-house-general-counsel.md) |
| Human involvement | Red: Lawyer writes; AI may check, clarify or collect data |
| How AI is used | List each request in the notice, the date printed on it, and the categories of documents the notice names. Do not draft the response that is sent and do not calculate a deadline that is not printed on the notice. |
| What the lawyer must review | What may be disclosed in a response is the lawyer's decision. ABA Model Rule 1.6(a) provides that a lawyer shall not reveal information relating to the representation of a client unless the client gives informed consent, the disclosure is impliedly authorized in order to carry out the representation, or paragraph (b) permits it. ABA Formal Opinion 512 (29 July 2024) requires the lawyer to supervise a generative tool and to remain responsible for its output. A notice from a regulator is not, by itself, a subpoena under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 45. If the paper is a Rule 45 subpoena, that rule governs the objection and the motion to quash, and the lawyer writes anything that is served or filed. The tool does not identify the agency's statute and does not decide whether a privilege applies. |

## Checking plan

- What the AI does: List each request in the notice, the date printed on it, and the categories of documents the notice names. Do not draft the response that is sent and do not calculate a deadline that is not printed on the notice.
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 22 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Notes

- The index is not the response. Nothing in it is sent to the agency.
- Do not treat a printed date as a calculated deadline. Record only the date the notice itself states.
