| Human involvement | Yellow: Lawyer and AI draft together |
| How AI is used | From the instrument as served, extract the issuer, the start time, the end date, the named persons, the conditions, and whether the document itself says the matter will be listed in court. Do not classify the instrument. Leave a row for the lawyer's classification. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer decides whether this document is itself the protection or only a step toward a court order, whether an exclusion applies, and what the client must do before the end date. |

## Checking plan

**Source-by-source verification**

Extract only what the served document says, then let the lawyer apply the opened rules.

- What the AI does: From the instrument as served, extract the issuer, the start time, the end date, the named persons, the conditions, and whether the document itself says the matter will be listed in court. Do not classify the instrument. Leave a row for the lawyer's classification.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides whether this document is itself the protection or only a step toward a court order, whether an exclusion applies, and what the client must do before the end date.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Do not treat every police document as a court application. In Queensland a police protection direction need not go to court.
2. Check the exclusions before telling a client a direction was available, including a child named on it and any family law or child protection order.
3. Record the start as service, or as the officer telling the respondent, not as the date of the incident.
4. Other places were not opened. Do not describe their police notices.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
