## Key facts

| Practice area | [Family Violence & Protection Orders](https://ailawframework.com/practice/family-violence-and-protection-orders.md) |
| Human involvement | Green: AI drafts, lawyer checks |
| How AI is used | From the documents the lawyer has already selected — the police narrative and application, medical records, photographs, message exports, tenancy records and earlier orders — draft a dated chronology with a source reference for every entry, and a document index beside it. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer confirms each date and reference against the document itself, decides which incidents fall within the relevant period, and removes anything that may not be used. |

## Checking plan

**Lawyer review required**

The responsible lawyer reviews the work against the instructions, sources and intended use.

- What the AI does: From the documents the lawyer has already selected — the police narrative and application, medical records, photographs, message exports, tenancy records and earlier orders — draft a dated chronology with a source reference for every entry, and a document index beside it.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer confirms each date and reference against the document itself, decides which incidents fall within the relevant period, and removes anything that may not be used.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Open each source document and confirm the date, the author and the page reference against the chronology entry; correct any date taken from a file name or from a message timestamp recorded in a different time zone.
2. Check that message and social-media exports are complete and in sequence, and reject any entry resting on a screenshot whose sender or date cannot be established.
3. Check every medical, counselling, child-protection or subpoenaed record in the set for a restriction on its use before it is summarised, and remove what has not been cleared.
4. Confirm no version of the chronology that will be filed or served records the protected person's current address, workplace, school or telephone details.
5. Mark the entries that rest only on the client's recollection so they are not later treated as documented.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
