Name the local order, not a generic one — The same work produces an ADVO in New South Wales, an FVIO or a personal safety intervention order in Victoria, a protection order or temporary protection order in Queensland, an FVRO or VRO in Western Australia, an intervention order in South Australia, a family violence order in Tasmania and the ACT, and a DVO in the Northern Territory. Work from the statute and the forms of the court actually hearing the matter. A template or prompt that assumes one jurisdiction's scheme will produce conditions that do not exist in the local order.

Protect the address before anything is generated — Several schemes prohibit stating the protected person's residential address in the order, and in New South Wales also in a declaration that an interstate order is recognised, unless the court is satisfied it is safe. Check what address, school, workplace and telephone details sit in a document before it goes into a tool, is filed, or is served on the respondent.

Sworn material stays in the deponent's words — The grounds, statement or affidavit supporting an application is the deponent's own account of what happened to them. A tool may index annexures, check the form against the local rules and list facts that still have no source. It must not supply a narrative, smooth an account or fill a gap from the police material.

Diarise the order, do not just file it — An order does nothing until the respondent has been served or otherwise properly notified, and an extension must be sought before the order expires, not after. Keep the service record, the expiry date and the extension-filing date on a register for every order on the file, and check the recognition position whenever a party moves interstate.

## Tasks (8)

| Task | Level | How AI is used | What the lawyer must review |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Build the incident chronology and evidence index for the protection order file | Green | From the documents the lawyer has already selected — the police narrative and application, medical records, photographs, message exports, tenancy records and… | The lawyer confirms each date and reference against the document itself, decides which incidents fall within the relevant period, and removes anything that… |
| Build the order, service and expiry register | Green | From the sealed orders, the affidavits or certificates of service and the police service record, draft a register row for each order: type, issuing court,… | The lawyer confirms each row against the sealed order, confirms that service or notification has actually happened, and decides whether an interstate order… |
| Prepare the protection order application pack | Yellow | Working from the lawyer's instructions and the chronology, populate the prescribed application form for the relevant court, select the standard conditions… | The lawyer confirms who is entitled to apply, that the relationship falls inside the statutory definition, that this court has jurisdiction, and that every… |
| Prepare the statement in support of the protection order application | Red | Index the annexures and exhibits, compare the lawyer's draft against the proofing note and the source documents, list the facts that still have no source, and… | The lawyer takes the account, writes every sentence of it, confirms it is the deponent's own knowledge, and checks the jurat, the witnessing requirement and… |
| Advise on the conditions and on consenting without admissions | Red | From documents the lawyer supplies — the proposed order, the client's licences and employment details, tenancy and visa documents and any current parenting… | The lawyer gives the advice, decides what each condition means for this client, identifies the licensing, screening, employment, immigration, tenancy and… |
| Identify the person most in need of protection in a cross-application | Red | Organise the two applications into a side-by-side table: each allegation, its date, the party alleging it, and the document relied on, with the competing… | The lawyer decides who is the person most in need of protection, whether conduct is coercive or resistive, and whether to press, consent or withdraw — and… |
| Prepare the variation, revocation or extension application | Yellow | From the sealed order and the lawyer's instructions, populate the prescribed variation, revocation or extension form and draft a table setting each existing… | The lawyer confirms who may apply, whether leave or a change of circumstances must be shown, whether the application must be filed before expiry, and whether… |
| Build the contravention analysis from the police brief and the served order | Yellow | Set each act alleged in the police brief against the exact words of the condition said to be contravened and against the service or notification record, and… | The lawyer confirms the condition's wording from the sealed order in force on the date, confirms service or notification, and decides whether each element is… |
