| How AI is used | Record the hearing date, the forum named in the notice, the aid the client asked for, and whether the client asked that an accompanying adult help. Do not decide that the aid is appropriate and do not write the request. |
| What the lawyer must review | You decide whether 28 CFR § 35.160 applies, and you write any request. The section is addressed to a public entity. The definition of public entity was not opened, so you decide whether the forum is one. Subsection (a)(1) requires appropriate steps so that communications with applicants, participants, members of the public, and companions with disabilities are as effective as communications with others. A companion is a family member, friend, or associate who, along with the person, is an appropriate person with whom the entity should communicate. Subsection (b)(1) requires appropriate auxiliary aids and services where necessary to give an equal opportunity to participate. Subsection (b)(2) says the type varies with the method of communication, the nature, length, and complexity of the communication, and the context, and that the entity gives primary consideration to the requests of individuals with disabilities. Aids must be in accessible formats, timely, and protective of privacy and independence. Subsection (c) says the entity shall not require the person to bring another individual to interpret, shall not rely on an accompanying adult except in the two cases the subsection states, and shall not rely on a minor child except in an emergency where no interpreter is available. If the entity chooses video remote interpreting, subsection (d) states the video, image, audio, and training conditions. You do not decide that a particular service meets those conditions. The tool only records what the client asked for. |

## Checking plan

- What the AI does: Record the hearing date, the forum named in the notice, the aid the client asked for, and whether the client asked that an accompanying adult help. Do not decide that the aid is appropriate and do not write the request.
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 22 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Notes

- A private office is not, on this page, the public entity with the § 35.160 duty.
- Primary consideration is the entity's duty. It is not a finding that the requested aid will be ordered.
