| Practice area | [Education Law](https://ailawframework.com/practice/education-law.md) |
| Human involvement | Red: Lawyer writes; AI may check, clarify or collect data |
| How AI is used | The tool writes nothing in the student's response. It may index the student's drafts, file version histories, notes and the provider's academic integrity policy and AI-use rules for the assessment, with dates and references. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer takes the student's account of how they produced the work in the student's own words, tests the provider's evidence, identifies the rule said to be breached and the procedure owed, and settles the response with the student. |

## Checking plan

**Lawyer-led judgement**

The lawyer makes the substantive assessment. Any permitted AI assistance remains supporting work with its own checks.

- What the AI does: The tool writes nothing in the student's response. It may index the student's drafts, file version histories, notes and the provider's academic integrity policy and AI-use rules for the assessment, with dates and references.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer takes the student's account of how they produced the work in the student's own words, tests the provider's evidence, identifies the rule said to be breached and the procedure owed, and settles the response with the student.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.
- Restriction: The lawyer makes the substantive assessment. Any permitted AI assistance remains supporting work with its own checks.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Identify the exact AI-use rule that applied to the assessment and when the student was told of it.
2. Test each item of the provider's evidence, including any detection-tool output, rather than accepting it as proof.
3. Confirm the response contains no AI-generated sentence.
4. Note whether the matter could go to the National Student Ombudsman after the provider's process ends.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
