| Human involvement | Yellow: Lawyer and AI draft together |
| How AI is used | Record whether the file contains a written notice from the consumer about the debt or a portion of it, and the date of that notice. Do not say collection must stop. |
| What the lawyer must review | You decide whether to pause. Section 1692g(b) says collection activities and communications that do not otherwise violate the subchapter may continue during the 30-day period in subsection (a) unless the consumer has notified the debt collector in writing about the debt or any portion of it. The same subsection says a communication must not overshadow or be inconsistent with the disclosure of the consumer's right to dispute the debt or to request the original creditor's name and address. You read the rest of subsection (b) before you treat a notice as the statutory notice. An external complaint is not, by itself, that writing. Section 1692a decides whether the sender is a debt collector. This is not a stay of a judgment. No stay rule was opened. |

## Checking plan

- What the AI does: Record whether the file contains a written notice from the consumer about the debt or a portion of it, and the date of that notice. Do not say collection must stop.
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 22 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Notes

- Use this only for a debt collector and a consumer debt.
- A creditor collecting its own commercial debt is outside the path this check describes.
