## Key facts

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Practice area | [Debt Recovery & Civil Enforcement](https://ailawframework.com/practice/debt-recovery-and-civil-enforcement.md) |
| Human involvement | Red: Lawyer writes; AI may check, clarify or collect data |
| How AI is used | List the balance, the account, and the dates the lawyer has already written down. Do not write the acknowledgment. |
| What the lawyer must review | You write the acknowledgment the debtor will sign. Model Rule 1.4(b) requires an explanation sufficient for your own client to decide. Whether a signed acknowledgment restarts a limitation period is a question of the state law that governs the debt. No state limitations statute was opened, so do not say that it does. If a debt collector sends the paper while collecting a consumer debt, § 1692a decides who is a debt collector, and § 1006.26(b) prohibits bringing or threatening a legal action on a time-barred debt. That prohibition does not apply to a bankruptcy proof of claim. Section 1692g(d) is about a formal pleading, not this paper. |

## Checking plan

- What the AI does: List the balance, the account, and the dates the lawyer has already written down. Do not write the acknowledgment.
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 22 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Notes

- A creditor collecting its own commercial debt is not, from § 1692a as used here, automatically a debt collector.
- Do not call the paper a confession of judgment. No such statute was opened.
