| Human involvement | Red: Lawyer writes; AI may check, clarify or collect data |
| How AI is used | From the sealed judgment and the ledger the lawyer marks, list the debtor and creditor names as they appear, the judgment date, the judgment amount, any amount still unpaid, and whether the lawyer has marked a stay, an assignment or a costs certificate. Do not complete the AFSA application and do not calculate interest. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer decides the notice can be applied for, completes the AFSA Online Services application, attaches a sealed or certified judgment or other document AFSA requires, and certifies any interest calculation. AFSA says the arithmetic is entirely for the creditor. |

## Checking plan

**Lawyer-led judgement**

The lawyer makes the substantive assessment. Any permitted AI assistance remains supporting work with its own checks.

- What the AI does: From the sealed judgment and the ledger the lawyer marks, list the debtor and creditor names as they appear, the judgment date, the judgment amount, any amount still unpaid, and whether the lawyer has marked a stay, an assignment or a costs certificate. Do not complete the AFSA application and do not calculate interest.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides the notice can be applied for, completes the AFSA Online Services application, attaches a sealed or certified judgment or other document AFSA requires, and certifies any interest calculation. AFSA says the arithmetic is entirely for the creditor.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.
- Restriction: The lawyer makes the substantive assessment. Any permitted AI assistance remains supporting work with its own checks.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Confirm the amount outstanding when the application is made is at least $10,000, the minimum AFSA attributes to section 10A of the Bankruptcy Regulations 2021. Post-judgment interest does not make a judgment under $10,000 qualify.
2. Reject the application path if the judgment is more than 6 years old, or if execution is stayed or suspended. An appeal without a stay is not itself a stay, as AFSA's example states.
3. If the judgment was assigned, or if costs were ordered to be taxed, attach the proof AFSA describes and do not treat a bare costs order as a final order.
4. Leave the interest schedule to the lawyer. Do not import a rate from another matter.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
