## Key facts

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Practice area | [Debt Recovery & Civil Enforcement](https://ailawframework.com/practice/debt-recovery-and-civil-enforcement.md) |
| Human involvement | Red: Lawyer writes; AI may check, clarify or collect data |
| How AI is used | List the creditor, the balance, and the dates the lawyer has written down. Do not write the demand. |
| What the lawyer must review | You write the demand. There is no companies-act statutory demand in the sources opened, so do not call the letter one and do not state a deadline for winding up. If a debt collector sends it to collect a consumer debt, § 1692a identifies the debt collector and § 1692g is the validation rule. Section 1692g(d) says a formal pleading is not an initial communication. This letter is not that pleading. Section 1006.26(b) prohibits a debt collector from bringing or threatening a legal action on a time-barred debt. Model Rule 1.4(b) requires an explanation to your client before the letter goes. You decide whether the debt is time-barred under the state law that governs. |

## Checking plan

- What the AI does: List the creditor, the balance, and the dates the lawyer has written down. Do not write the demand.
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 22 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Notes

- A creditor collecting its own commercial debt is a different § 1692a question.
- Do not invent a 21-day insolvency deadline. None was opened.
