## Checking plan

**Verify against sources**

The lawyer writes the orders. The tool lists the County Court short form and the Supreme Court standard timetable.

- What the AI does: From the practice note, list the short-form items for a County Court General List order, or the standard timetable for a Supreme Court list proceeding. The tool does not write the orders.
- What the lawyer does: Write the proposed orders. The tool lists only the short-form items.
- Who reviews: Lawyer competent in this practice area
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Practice Note SC CL 3: the Court does not routinely hold a first directions hearing. On a notice of appearance it makes standard orders. Other than an expedited case, the trial is expected within 12 to 14 months of the notices of appearance, and the mediation about two to three months before trial.
2. County Court General List paragraph 22.4: short-form consent orders state whether the trial is before a judge alone or a jury, and the estimated duration.
3. The Court then allocates the date, usually 12 months from the order, and fills the other dates.
4. A variation needs an explanation and proposed orders.

## Notes

- County Court practice note PNCCV 1-2026, created on 5 June 2026, says not to enter confidential or sensitive information into a public AI tool. It cites Form 44A of the County Court Civil Procedure Rules 2018.
- A Supreme Court commercial-list practice note was not opened. Do not use this version for a list outside Practice Note SC CL 3 and the County Court General List.

## Practical guide

Jurisdiction: County Court General List, or a Supreme Court list managed under Practice Note SC CL 3

**Deliverable**: A short-form checklist. The lawyer writes the orders.

**Inputs**

- The court and list
- Judge alone or jury
- The estimated duration

**Example**: Illustrative example: The draft County Court order sets every interlocutory date. The checklist reduces it to mode of trial and duration. The lawyer signs that short form.

**Stop and escalate when**

- The proceeding is on a list whose practice note was not opened.
- The tool is asked to file the orders.

Checked 2026-10-23.
