| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer decides whether the claim is misleading, whether the evidence meets the principle that calls for it, and what if anything is changed before the claim is published. |

## Checking plan

**Source-by-source verification**

Mark the claim against the eight principles in the guide, and take the current penalty figure from the guide page rather than from the 2023 PDF.

- What the AI does: From the packaging, the advertisement and the claim, mark each of the eight principles in the 12 December 2023 guide as met, not met, or not shown on the documents. Do not rewrite the claim. Do not use this list for a financial-product disclosure.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides whether the claim is misleading, whether the evidence meets the principle that calls for it, and what if anything is changed before the claim is published.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Score each of the eight principles. A literally true sentence can still fail the first principle.
2. Do not treat a future target as supported unless the documents show the clear and actionable plans the eighth principle describes.
3. Do not quote a penalty figure from the 12 December 2023 PDF. The guide page states the $100 million fixed component for corporations for conduct on or after 28 March 2026.
4. This is not the financial-product question list, and it does not collect a claim register. It tests one goods or services claim.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
- The eight principles were taken from the 12 December 2023 PDF. The guide page, not that PDF, is the source for the 28 March 2026 penalty update.
