| How AI is used | From the costs agreement and the scheme schedule or grant the lawyer identifies, set out the scheme amount, the solicitor-client amount, and the difference. Do not bill the client for the difference until the lawyer decides who pays it. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer decides which schedule or grant applies, and whether the client pays any shortfall. A compensation matter and a damages claim do not share one scale. Read the current schedule. Do not reuse last year's maximum. Keep medical details in the firm's system. Apply ASCR rule 9, APP 11, and the Privacy Act notifiable-breach test. |

## Checking plan

**Workers costs reconciliation**

The tool sets out the scheme figure and the agreement figure. The lawyer decides the shortfall.

- What the AI does: From the costs agreement and the scheme schedule or grant the lawyer identifies, set out the scheme amount, the solicitor-client amount, and the difference. Do not bill the client for the difference until the lawyer decides who pays it.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides which schedule or grant applies, and whether the client pays any shortfall. A compensation matter and a damages claim do not share one scale. Read the current schedule. Do not reuse last year's maximum. Keep medical details in the firm's system. Apply ASCR rule 9, APP 11, and the Privacy Act notifiable-breach test.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Compensation costs and damages costs are taken from different schedules where the regulation splits them.
2. An ILARS grant is reconciled to the work it funds before any solicitor-client charge is put to the worker.
3. The Victorian order matches pre-litigated or litigated, and the lawyer confirms it has not been replaced.
4. A Queensland damages claim is tested against section 347, and the lawyer checks the 2025 regulation for any further limit.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
