| How AI is used | From the dispute type and the stage the lawyer identifies, list the regulated maximum for that stage from the current schedule, and the disbursements the lawyer has marked. Do not send the claim to the insurer. |
| What the lawyer must review | The lawyer decides whether costs are payable at all for this dispute, and the stage that applies. Use the indexed maximum current on the date of the work, not an older column. Do not claim costs for an internal review if the regulation says none are payable. Keep medical details in the firm's system. Apply ASCR rule 9, APP 11, and the Privacy Act notifiable-breach test. |

## Checking plan

**Regulated costs claim**

The tool lists the scheduled maximum for the stage the lawyer names. The lawyer decides whether costs are payable and sends the claim.

- What the AI does: From the dispute type and the stage the lawyer identifies, list the regulated maximum for that stage from the current schedule, and the disbursements the lawyer has marked. Do not send the claim to the insurer.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides whether costs are payable at all for this dispute, and the stage that applies. Use the indexed maximum current on the date of the work, not an older column. Do not claim costs for an internal review if the regulation says none are payable. Keep medical details in the firm's system. Apply ASCR rule 9, APP 11, and the Privacy Act notifiable-breach test.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. The dispute type is one the regulation makes payable. An internal review is not claimed if clause 23 applies.
2. The dollar figure is from the index column that covers the date of the claim, which on 23 October 2026 is the 1 October 2026 column for the New South Wales schedule.
3. A Victorian common law protocol claim uses the TAC price point for the settlement date, not the New South Wales schedule.
4. A Queensland motor accident claim uses the indexation notice for the injury year, not a statutory-benefits stage fee.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
