## Key facts

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Practice area | [Confidentiality & client information](https://ailawframework.com/obligations/confidentiality-and-client-information.md) |
| Human involvement | Yellow: Lawyer and AI draft together |
| How AI is used | List the former client, the new matter in the file's words, and whether a written screen notice is already on the file. Do not say the firm may act. |
| What the lawyer must review | You decide the conflict. Rule 1.10(a) says that while lawyers are associated in a firm, none of them shall knowingly represent a client when any one of them practicing alone would be prohibited by Rule 1.7 or Rule 1.9, unless a stated exception applies. The screen in Rule 1.10(a)(2) is for a prohibition based on Rule 1.9(a) or (b) that arises from the disqualified lawyer's association with a prior firm. It requires a timely screen, no part of the fee, written notice to the former client with the contents the rule lists, and certifications. It is not a cure for a Rule 1.7 conflict. The text of Rules 1.7 and 1.9 was not opened, so you open them before you decide the prohibition exists. Rule 1.10(c) says a disqualification under this rule may be waived by the affected client under the conditions stated in Rule 1.7. Those conditions were not opened. A notice that is not in the file is not described as sent. |

## Checking plan

- What the AI does: List the former client, the new matter in the file's words, and whether a written screen notice is already on the file. Do not say the firm may act.
- Basis: Checked against the linked sources on 22 October 2026. Confirm the current instrument before reliance.

## Notes

- A screen does not cure a current-client conflict under Rule 1.7.
- Rules 1.7 and 1.9 were not opened. This list is not a conflict clearance.
