## Checking plan

**Lawyer-led judgement**

The lawyer makes the decision to switch the tool on. Any permitted AI assistance remains supporting work with its own checks.

- What the AI does: From the screening note, the practice-note check, the acknowledgement and the vendor-contract review, list items that are still unresolved. Do not write the decision or the reasons.
- What the lawyer does: The lawyer decides whether the tool may be switched on, writes the reasons, and names the practitioner who remains responsible for it.
- Who reviews: Responsible lawyer with competence in the matter
- Basis: Practical workflow informed by the linked primary sources; the traffic light and working checks are editorial guidance, not a court classification.
- Why: The level reflects what the work is, the consequence of an error, and how much of the output the lawyer must independently re-derive.
- Restriction: The lawyer makes the substantive assessment. Any permitted AI assistance remains supporting work with its own checks.

## Checks the lawyer makes

1. Confirm the unqualified-practice screen, the practice-note check and the vendor-contract review are finished.
2. Confirm the acknowledgement on the live screen is the text the lawyer approved.
3. Name the practitioner who will supervise the tool after it is switched on.
4. Write the decision without adopting the tool's own description of what it does.

## Notes

- These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
